And now old Dandino is the last to link up.

He goes in quietly, the light is switched on they are ready to rumble in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes for 2015. Stand, Amralah is a bit fidgety....off now, came out as one, although PROTECTIONIST off the inside has no pace early and is drifting back.

Out wide, however, HARTNELL is crashing across in quest of a good position and may even find himself in front soon as not too many on his inside want to hunt up.

GUST OF WIND is prominent and RISING ROMANCE is following Hartnell across looking to slot in up near the front while VOLKSTOK'N'BARREL is there too.

Just in behind them we have ROYAL DESCENT whose a little wide and HAPPY TRAILS is punching up along the fence to be handy.

Next in the running line is AMRALAH whose on the outside of SET SQUARE as the pace starts to slacken a bit up front.

Some of these are getting onto the heels of others as they slow to a dawdle up the side with 1400m left to travel.

WEARY is about midfield with EXTRA ZERO and ALPINE EAGLE who is wide with cover and cantering to the back, just a little worse than midfield.

The backmarkers are crawling.

PREFERMENT has found a nice spot with his stablemate WHO SHOT THEBARMAN on his inside and MAGICOOL despite the great draw has drifted right back to be with DANDINO who was hooked back from his wide gate to be at the tail.

Protectionist is just in front of him.

They move up and along the side and passing the 1200m point, Hartnell by way of attrition, finds himself in the lead and doing it comfortably.

He's on the fence and hacking along about a length clear of Rising Romance and now Royal Descent has made good ground to be handy just behind the leaders, Volkstok'n'barrell is in a great spot just behind them and he's followed by Happy Trails on the fence.

Two lengths back is Amralah and the mare Set Square together, and they're clear of Gust Of Wind in the green jacket just in front of Extra Zero to her outside. Preferment follows them with Who Shot TheBarman.

Two lengths next is Magicool parked away on the fence, on his outside is Protectionist with Dandino last of all.

Passing the halfway mark and no change in the order.

Hartnell makes play by three parts of a length to Rising Romance on his outside and they are two clear of Royal Descent whose found the fence.

Just in behind them is Volkstok'n'barrel who enjoys a comfy run on the inside of Amralah as the pace start to quicken now.

Happy Trails is next and Set Square travels with him.  Gust Of Wind is further back with Alpine Eagle to her outside and making a move at the 800m.

Dandino and Protectionist are still last as the field quickly strings out now that Hartnell has put the pedal down. Dandino must be 15 off the lead.

Up toward the home bend and this sharp, decisive  move by Hartnell has left them all standing - he's got away three lengths clear of Rising Romance as they commence the long swing into the straight.

Two further back is Royal Descent whose being urged along and this trio are nicely clear of the others. Circling the field is Alpine Eagle who comes up on the outside of the kiwi Volkstok'n'barrel whose being asked for his effort now and he's responding.

Next is Gust of Wind on the fence. Happy Trails is looking for clear air and has moved off the rails, Set Square follows him. Preferment is starting to run into and Protectionist is following him.

Down to the 300m they charge now and no-one has caught Hartnell yet.

He's in full flight and going very strong still three clear of Rising Romance. Royal Descent is still there clawing away, and now Volkstok'n'barrell are making runs.

Wider out is Alpine Eagle and Who Shot TheBarman is coming hard, he's weaving between runners. Preferment is widest still and Dandino now starts to find clear running between horses.

At the 200m, Hartnell makes play but Rising Romance and Alpine Eagle along with Volkstok'n'barrell are coming hard. Wider still is Who She TheBarman. Happy Trails continues to box on between runners and Dandino is getting a split and rocketing home now.

Hartnell still leads at the 100m. Royal Descent is getting up on the inside and it's Alpine Eagle and now Who Shot TheBarman and Dandino who are closing in on the Godolphin horse.

But Hartnell still has a kick.

He's holding them all at bay as they roar to the line...... Hartnell leads from go to whoa, fantastic ride by McDonald, as Hartnell staves off everyone to win the Turnbull by a length from Dandino with Royal Descent clinging to third.

Just behind them we find a wall of horses with Alpine Eagle running bravely, and a great Melbourne Cup trial by Who Shot Thebarman, while Rising Romance is close up. Protectionist and Preferment ran slashing races too.'
